Are you kidding? In the way back up my neck of the woods it was much worse. We used to get stopped all the time. They'd shove night sticks in the pipes to check for baffles, license and registration checks, equipment safety checks, handle bars too high, tag too low, sobriety checks, you name it. If you were riding a chopper you were a target of opportunity and fresh meat for the lions.
I never had that happen to me, ever. Now riding through Catoosa, Oklahoma with long hair could get risky.
Memory from a long gone local builder out here in California. H & H turned out the old Harmon front ends, and a lot of other bike stuff back in the day. I have one of their front ends on my Ironhead.
I remember getting arrested and spending the night in jail in Yosemite National Park, just because I had long hair with a head band, a big beard, and rode a chopper with my duffle and sleeping bag tied to the sissy bar.
Park Ranger did a u-turn and followed me for a couple of miles before he pulled me over. He waited until he had back up. About 6 hours after they arrested me, they said they found weed in my belongings. Bullshit!! I smoked all I had the night before and was out.
I got out the next morning, but had to return 2 weeks later for court. I got it all thrown out, but it was a big hassle. Ruined my weekend ride.
