Cleaning burnt on plastic from black ceramic exhaust
On my last ride it was a windy day. We stopped to fuel up and rest a minute, while stopped a plastic shopping bag blew across the lot and landed on the hot exhaust pipe. @#$&!!!!...What a mess.
Today I used a product called CERAMA BRYTE that the wife uses to clean the stove cooktop. It takes a bit of elbow grease but it worked. The product does leave a slight haze but Windex with ammonia takes the haze off. Here are some quick picks of my progress after 5 minutes. The product might work on chrome, it's nothing more than a lightly abrasive cleaner. Hope this helps anyone who might use the search function for a similar problem in the future.
I'm not sure what the coating on your pipes are, but a guy I ride with uses oven cleaner to clean burned plastic off if his his chrome pipes. Everytime he wears his rain suit, he melts them onto the pipes..
