Default Hope I remember where all these parts go!

Finally got the time to dig into the winter mods. Wrenched on lots of different vehicles but this is the first time I have really dug into the Harley.

Most of the work is fairly straight forward with the help of the service manual but it still a bit of a shock to look at it all apart. Fortunately I have a lift and all the needed tools which makes it a bit more comfortable. Actually the biggest pain in the a$$ was getting all the gas out of the tank. Obviously I filled it up before I put it away in November.

When installing apes, apparently people get to the wiring connectors without taking off the tank but I don't know how as there doesn't look like much room to me just lifting the tank up.

Still have to remove the exhaust, rocker covers, clutch cover, cam cover, brake calipers and wheels

Here is the mod list:

- Progressive 422 shocks
- 16" Torch Ind. handle bars
- LA Choppers Risers
- Magnum Shielding black pearl cables
- Novello wiring extensions
- Roland Sands grips
- Custom Dynamics LED signal lights
- LED headlight
- Cruise Mate
- new brake pads and disks.
- assorted brass goodies from Chopper Garage USA and Speed Dealers
- powder coating black a bunch of polished/chrome parts

I'll comment on your thread title with a question...

Did you take pictures of each part while assembled before tearing it apart?

I will say that you appear organized which helps.

Yeah, it's a lot easier messing with those wires if the tank is removed.
What happened to your exhaust pipes?

Did you already order your handlebars from Torch Ind?

The shields are at the powder coaters getting ceramic coating. After being on the bike for 7 years the stock Vance and Hines parts were looking a little tired

Bars have already been ordered. Justin was real easy to deal with and had no problem building what I wanted.

Actually I mocked up a set of bars using electrical PVC pipe that kind of looked like their HB-7 bars. I was able to match their height and the grip angle so for the exception of pullback I was able to get an idea of what I wanted. For all the threads I see about guys wondering what height of bars to get, I spent about $20 on parts and about 15 minutes to make them.

For $40 more that Carlini bars I am getting a set with the exact measurements that I want.

Cool. I, too, ordered a set of HB7s from Justin. I didn't find the experience dealing with him or Torch to be great, and the quality of the bars was well below what I expected to receive.

I hope that's not the case for you. I've shelved the bars I got from Torch and chalked it up to a sunk cost. In the end, Factory47 was my choice, and I've been pleased with the service and the product.

Anyway, I digress. Looking forward to your project and the finished results! Keeps the updates coming!

I have not received the bars yet so I hope I get a decent set. The big problem is unless you want to use an adaptor plate there are not to many springer options.

My HB-7 bars from Torch look great, the finish is as good or better than the LA Choppers bars they replaced. Can't wait to see your bike when you get it together.
