I have some fond memories as a kid with AMC made vehicles. It's the only brand my father ever truly loved and he drove them till the wheels fell off. I can remember the name Mark Donahue being talked about while he sipped on a cold Michelob.
This sold today on eBay for 11K. One of these days I am going to buy a restored memory like this, if I can stop my Harley fetish.
Anyone else remember AMC stuff or another car that takes you back 30 yrs in an instant?
I was a early teen and all the older guys in the neighborhood had mid-late 60s musclecars.
Camaros, Firebirds, GTOs.
Didn't see too many AMXs
There is a guy near me now that has an AMX all set up for track racing. The Red, White, and Blue paint, roll bar, the whole works. I see it driven occasionly.

AMC challenged the Big 3 and made their mark but it was short lived. My dad went from a Javelin to Gremlin when the energy crisis hit. He kept a 72 Javelin around for years driving it occasionally but it never ran right and he didn't have the money to make it run the way I suppose it should.
He traded it for an AMC Jeep CJ5 in 1980 and when he drove it 2 hours to the dealership he said it never ran better.
The R-W-B paint scheme is from the Trans Am series of NASCAR that Mark Donahue made famous to AMC owners

Yes, I believe that's it, but the last time i saw it, it seemed more white. I hope to see it again. A really cool car.
I always liked the looks of the AMX but the engineering that went into them was a little different, so I never really wanted one. Good running cars when set up right.
Another guy I see regularly has a Gremlin X with the V-8. Yellow with the black stripe.
