Buying an old harley

Agreed, I bought a new 1974 FX1200 with the same tank stripes. It would be a real labour of love to turn that poor thing around! Harley actually owned Aermacchi in those days.

But a 74 FX1200 WOULD be worth restoring (depending on how far she's gone).

In 1960, US business Harley-Davidson motorcycles purchased 50% of Aermacchi's motorcycle division. The remaining motorcycle holdings were sold in 1974 to AMF-Harley-Davidson, with motorcycles continuing to be made at Varese. The business was sold to Cagiva in 1978."
