A bit of fiddle farting around today

Teflon tape..., like anti-seize.., is your friend....., Should not be used on on fuel / brake systems - but on oil systems works fine

ANs installed

Why I shortened each end by a 1/4 inch

That's really nice looking stuff.

You shortened the adapters for the cooling tubes? What thread/fitting on the tube side? NPT? BSP? ORB?

I didn't use Teflon tape when i ran my breather hoses. Wonder if that's why they mist a little near the connections. I thought AN didn't need a sealant.

Into the cooling tubes it 3/8" NPT Female - both ends

Below is a stock photo from the wimmer site - they install 3/8" Male NPT to Barb Male connectors..., for use

Notice how they are recessed into the end of the cooler - he uses a "thinned down" (turned down) socket to tighten the connectors

The cooler tube ends have (eyeballing it) ~ 5/8" recess on each end to facilitate recessing the Barbed connectors

I cut (shortened) 1/4" off each end of the cooler tubes..., to give enough "wrench bite" on the - 3/8" Male NPT to -6AN Male connectors (adapters)

Probably could have gotten way with cutting off only an 1/8" - but what the hell

You're correct..., AN connectors don't need any type of sealant - how ever pipe threads (NPT) do

The connectors (essentially adapters) used....

End screwing into the cooler tube - is 3/8" NPT Male (pipe thread)

End coming out of the cooling tubes..., now..., is -6 AN Male - which is what the hoses will connect to..., using a -6 AN Female connector

Could be

Screwing into the breather passages - are the threads AN..., NPT..., something else?

What the hell? How are you supposed to install those barb fittings without hex access? I get the desire to make it look nice, but damn.

Oh, also... I've never used Russel's products. How's the quality? They look real nice in the photos. Aluminum fittings and steel braided hose, I assume?

They come pre-installed - used a little persuasive vice grip action to remove them

I hate barbed anything (lost a race motor once when a hose connection blew - I swore then and there to never use barb again)

And trying to make a clean looking 90' turn (installation) is next to impossible

I've used Russell.., Aeroquip..., and Earl's for years on racing applications - never had any issues..., or failures

Russell was cheaper than the other two for this application..., and I could get what I needed in black

And..., I am a cheap bastard

Yes Sir..., and the fittings are all full flow

Aside

Little later in this - I'll show how to build AN connections

Never liked the idea of barb fittings for oil under pressure. I know many use them just fine, but that's just me. Was very pleased with AN fittings on my Ultracool oil cooler. Not a drop of a leak. Was a bit nervous tightening them, as there seems to be a shortage of torque specs, at least when I was installing. Mostly "1/4 turn past the point of contact" which I really didn't like. But it's worked so far. When I pick up the filter relo kit I'll get the one with AN as well. Don't recall the maker at the moment though.
