I actually, much to the future disappointment of my wife, loaded 16 gigs worth of my songs onto a flash drive and plugged it in. Now my David Alan Coe and Conway Twitty go with me......(she hates that music and has a 6 hour one way trip to the trail to listen to ALL of it......muahahahahahahaha)
Their are a lot of ways to set things up so each can listen to their own. 750 mile ride there for us we often ride it in one day. It would be a long day if she could not listen to her own

We rented a Cabin that sleeps 6 for the week from VRBO.com. Hotel wanted 165/night, cabin is $110/night and is way better than the hotel.

Dragon Pitt Inn is good place to stay, Dennis runs a first class place. But you might need to make reservations. Maryville is close by and you can probably find a hotel there without any problem. As far as what to see, to much to mention. Just get a road map and enjoy all the great roads in the area.

The real danger in the Smokies? Fog. So bad that I road 15 mph on the yellow line just to see where I was. This is a couple days later on the Cherohala.
Good luck with cell phone near Fontana, and at deal gap. At the HD outlet store at Fontana if you walk over to the lake stick one foot in the water you have a slim chance of a connection. This is not a joke.
