Dan, please keep us updated with the progress of your project. Been looking to add a little stretch to my Fatboy fender, and like you, wouldn't have any of the fiberglass jobs i see being offered.
Let us know if you find a source. I've been looking for years, thinking about buying 2 used ones and making one myself. I'm not a great welder but I can use a sander... LOL
I'm thinking of a stretched fender on my fatboy would be nice as well. I'm trying to find a way to keep the stock profile and keep the kick out at the bottom but lower. Victorys kinda had it except the bottom of the fender looks like it's a foot a way from the tire. I'd like to see it lower and tight but not quite a hugger style. Keep us posted.
My bike is a Slim but I am running a 200mm rear tire on a Crossbones wheel.
While searching for a stretched fender I ran a Russ Wernimont longshot, here is a pic next to a stock Fatboy
Wanted a traditional fender that flared out so I installed a Softail Convertible rear
The Convertible fender was not long enough so I went with the Dirty Bird Mullet
No complaints with the glass fender, it's plenty strong. Lots of the bagger guys have been running glass fenders and/or bags for years.
I change the fenders up when the mood strikes, even run my old chopped fender sometimes... but the Mullet has become my favorite.
