I would also think, if it stopped where you think it does, torquing the clutch hub would just keep driving it in. However, I see that rub and have seen that before. Know the chain did not do that and I do not believe it's the sprocket either. I think Harley did that with some kind of matching fixture in production.
Yes the clutch dead heads at the end of the splines. The marks on the inner primary are a dead give away that the chain tensioner got too tight and pulled the ring gear into the inner primary.

Been running a HAYDEN M6 tensioner for 10k miles........it came out pitted a bit.......they actually sent me a new pad and new springs free......maybe the material is different and softer springs.......not sure.......gonna give them another go anyways

UPDATE: was informed the bearing puller won't be here til Friday......so we'll see how it goes when it goes.

Now now..we got the place were the clutch hub bottoms straight. Least two of us. However, there is no way a too tight tensioner is going to pull the ring gear into that groove you see in Murf's picture way up at the beginning. You do call the large gear the starter engages the ring gear? Remember, that is outboard of the clutch hub.

Hey Rip......he's right.......the ring gear is closest to the inner primary when installed........this pic is not when it's on the shaft but as you can see the ring gear lines up perfectly with the marks on the inner primary.

Thank you..ME Bad..thinking of the old version before they fixed the starter to come out without pulling primary. Had never noticed the gear flopped to the inside.

Forgive me Mr Baker..??

Please put the clutch on the mainshaft slide it all the way in and take a picture behind it to show where it seats. Your second and third pictures of the mainshaft shows where the clutch hub splines stop.

ahhh, I got it and I now realize why I was confused. I didn't realize the video shows swapping a 5-speed transmission with the Baker 6-speed, even though it's right there, plain and simple. I initially thought the video was swapping a HD 6-speed with a Baker 6-speed. Thanks for the info!

The bearing puller you need if your race walked inboard is from
http://www.romancoinnovation.com/pages/pa_ma_pul.html

Worked like a charm!!!

Now that I have it......I don't need it......anyone wanna buy it from me?
