Default Best looking tunes set up for road king with no fairing?

I've seen the handlebar mounted speakers, but haven't seen any that are very complimentary to the look of the bike. I also have leather bags (FLHRC), so not sure about speakers in the bags. I also wonder how loud you have to get the tunes to hear them over the exhaust, wind noise, etc., at highway speed. Anyone with a good set up and pics would be appreciated.

I was in the same boat. I ended up buying th HD Boom Windshield Kit:

https://www.harley-davidson.com/stor...-08-7632109--1

It may seem a little pricey but honestly I was very surprised how good it sounds. I didn't care for the round speakers mounted on the handlebars. This unit mounts nicely on the windshield where the windshield bag would normally mount. It looks like it belongs on the bike. I think it also matched the look of the classic. It doesn't stand out much at all. Here are some pics of it installed on my bike:

The system has a harness plug so that the windshield can still be completely removed. In the pic I had an iPod mounted to the bars but now I just use my iPhone mounted to the bars for music and GPS. The system comes with a power/volume control the mounts neatly to the right side switch housing so you can adjust the volume without taking your hand off the bars. Really nice setup for tunes on a King. It's not gonna sound like a full on bagger system but it sounds good and gets plenty loud enough for me on the highway.

I have the Reckless Motorcycles Rock Hoodz system on my bike, and my OL has the same system on hers. We both love it.

I also considered the HD Boom windshield setup, but the Rock Hoodz system is louder and has a lot more features. The HD Boom system is pretty much limited to an auxiliary line-in input. With the Rock Hoodz system, you have choices. You can listen through a line input, a USB memory stick (I keep a stick in mine with over a thousand songs), Bluetooth, or AM/FM. Plus, it has a 12 volt power point, so my phone is always charging, even if I'm using it for GPS. Bonus - if I use the GPS on my phone and select bluetooth, and can listen to music, and the turn-by-turn directions come through the speakers.

I highly recommend it!

I use the Sena Bluetooth in my helmet. Works pretty good and I can take a phone call when I'm on call for work and out riding. I had some speakers that mounted to the handle bars using the mirror mounts but I was never happy with the sound and volume. At a light, everyone got to listen to your music. At speed, not even I got to hear it.

If you get the right pipes, you won't need speakers.

Thanks for the replies and pics. Those both look clean, and I was also thinking about something in the helmet, though I wear a half helmet.

I tried the helmet music thing, and it sucked. In the end, I'm very happy with a quality system that actually puts out some sound.

I have the half helmet myself, typically use everyday in ear earbuds and works fine in the 50-60 mph range ( I mostly ride rural 2 lanes). Every now and again I'll wind things up to 80-85mph and earbuds definitely don't suffice over wind/road noise much above 60 mph. I do have a bluetooth controller for the iphone that straps the remote to the handlebar for volume, play, pause or skipping ahead to the next song.

Now when I was at the dealer 2 weeks ago they had trouble locating a visor trim ring I had pre ordered and I was standing around 10-15 minutes. Not a big deal, but they gave me the HD rechargeable bluetooth earbuds for free for my inconvenience. They actually sound better than my other earbuds and have a bit more volume so I've been using those instead. I think retail is around $50-60, not sure if they would work for you. Not sure my phone can pair with both bluetooth devices simultaneously so need to play with that.

No one was more shocked than me, its not like I was upset or complaining about my wait time. It's nice when any company goes above and beyond.
