Default Handlebar suggestions

Hey everyone,

I have a 2010 883XLN that I just put forward controls on and I'd like to bring the handlebar little higher and slightly closer to me. I'm 6 feet so I already feel little big. I dont like risers and would prefer a new handlebar. I like OEM style handlebars...

I was looking at the HD mini ape.. I feel like it might be little too high though

Also not sure if that will require now extending any lines. I feel like they have some length to them.

Suggestions?

Consider moving your current bars first - costs nothing more than a little time. You may be surprised how they seem to change shape, as they rotate in the clamps. Well worth trying, also you may get a better idea of what shape a replacement bar will do the trick, giving you a clearer idea of where you want the grips to be. Many dealers have a 'fit center' where you can study the shape of different Harley bars.

I actually tried that. I wasn't happy with the results.

So I found this thread from few years ago and the poster asked what N/A meant on the fitment sheet. I looked at it too and I now believe the only 2 items I need are the wiring extensions for controls and lights. Nothing else. Kind of a relief from a money point of view.

Alot of people did say you have to bend the stock brake line though which is odd to me. I would never think HD would expect you to "bend" a metal brake line to make it fit. so I might see about getting an extended brake line... I could bend it too I guess, but just seems odd to me. Apparently there is a tool for this, so maybe it's common practice?

Thoughts on fitment and/or required parts for anyone who has done this on a '10 883?

I put mini apes on my 06 xl. I'm 5' 8" and they put my hands just slightly lower than shoulder height. I also have a thin spring seat which seats me lower on the bike. So if you have a thicker seat I'd assume that would also make you hand position slightly lower than mine.

I also have my stock bars still laying around which look to me like they fall somewhere between what you have and the mini apes. I'd send them to you if interested. Mini apes are 10 inch bars. My stock somebody could probably verify for sure but I think were six inch

Hill Country Customs has quite a variety: https://hillcountrycustomcycles.com/...sportster.html

Never bought bars/wires from them, but did purchase/install a set of their Touring saddlebag guards...great results and very helpful w/my questions.

You might want to start by looking on the HD site and get the dimensions on the stock bars and then go on some handlebar sites and compare. You will very likely to be able to replace bars without cable or wire extensions if just adding a few Inches of rise and pullback. I have a roadster. I put on some stock iron bars and 1.5" risor extensions without any new cables, My brake hose is at its limit without bending the metal part. My stock bares had very little rise or pull back so combined I probably got 4" higher than stock and some pullback. My wife has an Iron and we put the HD mini apes on. Had to change all cables and extend wires. She really likes them. I find them comfortable as well. You can save ~60% if you order cables and brake line from drag specialist rather than HD branded ones.

Thanks for the replies guys! I have a mustang solo, which is pretty thick.

What year is your wife's bike? the fitment list doesn't even show a part number for the extended brake, clutch and throttle cables from 06 to 13.

how much extension did you get for your cables?

and where do you plug in the extension harness for the wires?
