Default Low Rider S - go with 1/4 fairing and bars or not?

Hey guys,

I just picked up a LRS last week and am loving it but am undecided on whether I should mod out the fairing and bars or not. I was convinced that I was going to do so but am having second thoughts. Here's what I'm deciding between:

I LOVE the way that the bike looks with the stock fairing and bars. It has a great profile to it. But I don't like having to always were my full face helmet on it. If I wear my half-helmet the wind noise is too much. I can't even hear my thunderheader because it's so loud. The full face almost eliminates the wind noise and doesn't blow up on my head when I'm on the interstate.

From a comfort stand point I'm seriously considering adding Westcoast 12" t-bars and Harley's 1/4 fairing. I have 10" bars on my Streetglide so I do find higher bars more comfortable. I'm also hoping that the larger fairing will reduce wind noise so I can wear my half-helmet more.

I will ultimately decide which way to go but I'd like to hear some other perspectives on this. Especially from those who made the change.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure about your choices..... But I get way more buffetting with my 14" bars and Connelly Tsport 14", then stock or Memphis Shades cafe. Just saying..... Having a screen in front doesnt always mean better at the helmet....

Put 12" Wild 1 chub bars on mine, which I love. Also put on a Conely fairing which is taller than the stock one but gets rid of significantly more wind.

Take a look at Memphis Shade's Road Warrior fairing. I am seriously thinking about this fairing on my LRS. I would like a little less wind so I can wear a 3/4 helmet here in the heat of Virginia.

I just bought the DK 2 inch riser extenders. I'm gonna ride it for a while before I decide on stuff like that.

I like the way the HD 1/4 fairing looks.

1/4 fairing and laminar lip to help with buffeting. Lepera Dayton daddy longs legs seat to push me back, then DK 3" risers for comfortable reach. combo of all parts works for me. I'm 6'3."

I run the Road Warrior with LD 13s and love it...except for the whistling of the fairing. Much less wind buffeting though.

Just from my experience the quarter fairing takes more wind off your chest than your face, you could probably add a laminar lip for added effect but not sure how much that does as I haven't run one. I will only ever ride with a full face though so the wind isn't as much of a concern. As far as the bars, that was the best thing I did, comfort and handling-wise. To each their own though, I get what you mean about the lines of the S - one of the best looking stock Harleys out there IMO...

I love my fairing with Laminar Lip. It diverts the wind quite well. I'll be installing some ~12" bars soon as well as Black Pearl Magnum Shielding lines/cables.

Hopefully also be sporting some custom wheels, fork tubes and brace soon!

I dig the Lip. Do I need a shorter screen to run it on my HD 1/4?
