Default No "Cat", but still HOT

Currently on a road trip and my right side is HOT, especially around my right foot. I've removed the Cat and had my bike tuned. Question- I'm now considering having the dealer install V&H PowerDuals. Will these reduce some of the heat? I'm riding a 16 Limited.

Thanks!

I was thinking about doing the change as well. Most people say that the factory decatted header is basically the same as the V&H Power Duals, The main difference is $$$$$ and looks.

I would say the tune is bad. I had a 2011 UC with 2/1s. I had just tossed them on and rode without having another dyno tune done. The first tune was for a different brand of 2/1 and it ran cool. Wanting to do "the right thing" I took it in for a tune. Bike ran worse and was hot as hell.

Also, if you run fork fangs on a bike with lowers, it can push the air to the outside of the lowers and then away from the motor. It's not a good combo for heat management.

I'm no expert, but it must be something else like the tune, I can't see a header working any better than a header for heat.

The right side is going to be hotter than the left. The exhaust is on that side and the jugs are closer to your legs also. Of course an improper tune might make it run hotter than normal or as was stated above having air management devices like "fangs" may direct hot air where you don't want it. I have the twin-cooled Limited with a completely stock motor running the stock tune and running with the lowers opened it doesn't seem overly hot to me.

By way of comparison I demoed a new Indian Roadmaster and couple weeks ago. Now that's a brutally hot bike in stop and go traffic. The temp that day was only 80F but my inner right calf was actually stinging when I got off the bike after about a 25 minute demo ride with the last 5 minutes in stop and go traffic. I know that's not much consolation if you are uncomfortable but I've heard that misery loves company....

I have the Rinehart header on my 14 Limited and even my wife says it is noticeably cooler. The temps here in Oklahoma are in the 90s. That is why I think there must be something else in this equation.

For what it's worth, do you have the lower vents open? I've found myself leaving them closed for the first 10-20-miles on hot days because I've been closing them on the cooler spring days in Central NY. I just forget until my legs get toasty. I too, have a '16 Limited.

Going on a trip next week with a stock system on my '16 SGS. Temps only in the 80's so we'll see. But Fuel Moto is definitely on my speed dial.

I agree. My current bike is the first one with a complete stage one upgrade from day one (including an FP3) and it runs considerably cooler - - before, on a 90 degree day the oil temp would be consistently in the 260 range, and now it stays below 220.

I have V&H Power Duals on my '16 Limited, no complaints. If I feel to much heat I open the vent(s) on the lowers, no problem.
