Cheapest way of resting over a long ride
Well for me .. I could do a 600 mile day dawn to dust with plenty of butt breaks in a day not problem.
I use KOA cabins if in the vicinity. Cheap .. have heat and a/c .. sometimes TV. All I really need is to hang my hat
As others have mentioned, I'd rather camp in my gear than stay in a cheap, bug infested, dirty motel. A number of campgrounds even when full, have an overflow area where one can setup.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
Seriously, though... to the OP, I didn't catch your age, but a buddy of mine rides from St. Louis to Sturgis (1,000 miles) in a single day every year. At the end of the rally, he turns around and rides home in a single day. He's 52 years old.
Keys are:
1) Lots of breaks (every 150 miles or so) - get off the bike, walk around for 10 minutes. Don't just fuel and bolt - get off, stretch your legs.
2) Hydration. He has a cupholder on his handlebars that always has a bottle of water. The goal is to drink the bottle of water before stopping for gas.
3) Food. He doesn't stop and have a heavy meal along the whole trip; he has a small, healthy snack at each stop (package of nuts, granola bar - something with protein and carbs).
4) Start EARLY. He gets going right at or before sunbreak. Says he isn't tired in the morning, and he's fine until the sun sets; he doesn't start to "feel the day" until after dark.
YMMV
