First confirm you are subscribed. Go to the settings and xm and see if it tells you that you have the service. Then go to the nav settings and turn on. You have to be on a route. You can also look up traffic incidents. (I'd do it parked ). If you don't have that and you live in a city something's wrong .

Yes, I have all of that and have had it for the last 3 years on this bike. In over 80K miles of touring using routes on the NAV, with XM and weather, despite severe storms with hail and tornados, not once did my XM weather pop up with a weather warning. I do, however, have Weather Band radio turned off, which has no relationship to XM or XM weather.

Is there a specific setting within XM Weather or the NAV to enable XM Weather warning pop-ups?

This is the only thing I can find in the boom manual for Weather Alerts:

"WEATHER ALERT
The weather band alert feature is only available on radios built for North America with a CB module. When the weather alert feature is turned on, the CB module continuously scans the weather band for an alert tone from the weather band stations. The rider can continue to play media, listen to other stations or use other features on the radio. When an alert tone is detected, the radio changes to the weather band and tunes to the channel with the alert announcement.

The alerts indicate extreme weather conditions such as tornados, storms, floods or other environmental warnings. See www.weather.gov/nwr for weather band and alert broadcast information.

Turn weather alert on: See Figure 54. On weather band screen, press button in upper left corner to display On.

Turn weather alert off: On weather band screen, press button in upper left corner to display Off."

This is not XM related and I presently have it turned off. Is yours enabled?

Its not that... Turn on the bike and make sure you are getting the xm music. Then go to weather and see if you can see the weather cloud stuff. Also go to the traffic inciidents and see if there are any listed. It should take a min or 2 to download. IF you need more info I will grab the book and look it up. But you should be able to see clouds etc. also be sure latest upgade on info system. The weather band is completely different. On my sm thing I had a rain warning once which I really appreciated. I get traffic updates all the time when there is a rounte planned. Once I could not figure out why it didnt re route me when it said traffic incident on hwy. The when I approaced I realized it was on the other side going in the oposite direction. If you need a walk through PM me and I can walk out to the bike and you can do the same and do it on the phone.

Yes, I get all of that. Have always had all of those options enabled. Again, I have never had a pop-up for weather from XM Weather. Stand alone Zumo's had the pop-ups, but never had one since I started using the Boom NAV with XM 94K miles ago.

I also searched through my XM settings and was not able to find anything helpful. I am very interested in what you have enabled for this functionality.

Thanks!

For those watching this thread, I spoke with justmike911 and he had a setting enabled that I didn't. It was In-process Data (IPD) and is located at:

Home> Setup > Navigation > Avoidances > In-process Data (IPD)

No clue what IPD is. There is no description for it in the manual and Google search is no help. Sounds like something related to data the NAV system has. Will see what happens during our next severe weather event.

Also, thanks justmike911 for helping a fellow rider out!

Update. I called HD customer care. They told me the 'In-process data' are roads on the maps that have not been physically driven for verification by the map maker.

They should have called it 'Unverified Roads (UVR)', lol
