Why would anyone hate splitting? Doesn't bother me in the least. It's their decision, as long as it doesn't compromise the safety of others. How do you negotiate that move safely when a cage on either side can pull into you when you've got no out? Or do you wait until there's a cage on only one side?

I do it at low speed when traffic is bumper to bumper and moving slowly. Above 30-35mph, there's no need to split lane for me.
My commute bike weighs 470 lbs with two front 320mm disc brake, so when moving slowly between cars, I can stop it. I wouldn't split lane with a heavy/large bike though.
For where I live and for where I have traveled, I've never felt the need to lane split/lane share. So I'll probably have to say no because I've never been that impatient to get where I'm going, my basic desire is to just get there and enjoy the ride in the process but to each their own.
