Nah... At least not for me. I can wear a half helmet with ear plugs and the wind noise is adequately controlled. However, my FF and ear plugs practically eliminates wind noise completely.

If wearing half helmet (rarely these days) then I wear a pair of Bobster riding glasses. They got the seal around the inside perimeter. No issues with wind or tearing eyes. No issues with anything else getting into my eyes either.

The FF that I wear is a Nolan N87. One of it's best features is the drop down sun visor. The sun visor almost provides total coverage of the view port (some other helmets I've tried can't make that claim). The sun visor will also accommodate my reading glasses (on the occasions when I need them while riding) being worn as well.

Riding experience and comfort are far superior with the FF in my view. However, on occasion I do miss the wind in my face that you get with a half helmet. And I do have to admit that sometimes the FF makes it feel like you are riding behind a windshield in a car.

Anyway, I am looking for what those who ride without a windscreen find works the best. Maybe after all these years ridding a batwing bike spoiled me a little.
I wear a 3/4 helmet with a pull down visor and I wear Ray Bans that are photo chromatic and also impact resistant. That is a combo that I've used for around 6-7 years and it works great for me.

I used to wear just sunglasses until after a windy ride my eyes looked like I just visited Colorado. Now I use Bobster Cruiser II goggles. They are very comfortable and have changeable lenses with a supposed life time warranty. http://www.bobster.com/Cruiser-II

I use Wiley's. The HD brand is half polarized so you can still read your phone/GPS with them on, and doesn't mess with your perception as much (so they say).

Wiley's are ballistic glasses, not just safety glasses.

They come in different shapes and sizes, glad I could try them out before buying. They fit extremely well to my face and don't catch the wind (so I've never felt like I'd loose them) or allow any wind to wrap around and get me in the eye.

They ain't cheap, but neither is an eye doctor.

Expensive 3/4 helmet and a cheap flat face shield.

removable windshield (rarely used), DOT tagged novelty 1/2 helmet and a set of good, face fitting sunglasses.

The key with fitting sunglasses for me has always been, plastic frames with a snug but not tight fitting bridge across the nose. Years ago, I ordered 5 pairs of Oakley "Minute" frames because I have a smaller face and good fitting glasses can be hard for me to find. Those fit me perfectly but went out of production... I think it was, '99.
I just had my last pair of minute frames fit with UV, Scratch resistant, Polarized, Rx lenses and I love 'em but I'll be looking for something else soon as I won't pay the $150-$200 price for n.o.s. ones I can find now. I might even try another set of KD's, like I did for my night riding glasses. They won't look as cool to me... but I'm getting to old and broke to care.
