I have done a lot lately. First I ordered the lids. Got some black ones off ebay, sanded down the gloss, then proceeded to paint, paint, paint, and repeat with about 5 layers of clear coat. While that cured, I then put on some Kappas 62.11s in the fairing, installed to soundigital 2 channel amps for the new speakers and lid speakers to be installed. I added a hidden antenna into the fairing. I also added the floorboards and adjustable foot rests for the passenger. lastly I added new handlebars and grips. the bars are 13" mayhems off ebay. http://ebay.to/2ttgU1D the company was great at answering my questions. they are solid 1-1/4" bars. that was the hardest part, trying to run the wiring. I used the videos but I had troubles. My chain broke repeatedly, then I used the chain to run a firm wire through but that wouldnt make the 2nd bend with the wiring attached. I finally ran to hardware store and bought a more solid chain. That did the trick. didnt take long once i got the right tool. but i spent a good 4-5 hours jacking with the weak chain and wire I had at home. I still have some amp tuning to do. I put in an equalizer but not sure why my sound isnt as good as I was hoping. Wondering if the amps are not as good as I had hoped for. I have one more thing to do, add the chrome saddlebag crash bars/guards. I had them on the road king and I like the ability for them to protect the bags when/if i have a tip over. My rider is a little clumsy and one of these days, she's going to make the bike roll over, I'm sure of it. My only wish is, I wish I knew how to do body work,painting prepping, buffing a little better. The lids are not bad looking at a glance, but now i realize, I should I have done more wetsanding on the paint layers and when painting/clear coating, actually picked them up, you can see where its lacking paint & clear coating around the bottom lip of the lid. But now I have a winter project. Take them off, do it right, take my time doing it!
Over the past week Ive done CD turn signals on all 4 corners, floorboard extensions, Eagle Light LED headlight, Klockworks 8.5 windshield, stubby antenna.
Stage one kit, dyno tune, and got the speedo warranted. What a pita dealing with the local HD dealer. I ended up having to take it to another dealer due to all the lies the local stealer ship told.
