Timing marks line up with silver links. Sprocket on the crank it straight up with the crank pin at tdc I believe.

Found a picture of correct timing. It looks like black links are supposed to line up with the timing marks. While my sprockets look to be in the correct position the black links on my chain are about 90 degrees off. I'll investigate it more tomorrow.
