I took the windscreen off, it's so scuffed up I could hardly see from behind it. I've got it strapped to the bike for now, maybe I can find a headlight restore kit and clean it up some.

the fuel gauge bounces around like mad and is.. less than reliable. I'm filling up around every 150miles to play it safe.
that's the two day report!
Just buy yourself a new windshield at Clearview Shields. They make a variety that fit, including recurves.
My fuel gauge works OK, but I use the trip odometer anyway. I fill up around 125, but I think your RT may have a bigger tank than my P. Nice find, BTW.
I made it to docs yesterday morning where they squared away the oil issue. The head bolts from the air breather we're very loose. They torqued em down, gave a little thread lock and away I went. I purchased an oil filter from them and headed towards South Dakota. Great time at Docs. Good, down to earth folks, no attitude, which was a nice change from my local HD's.
So far, from my own experience, On North America's highways, Harley Davidson rules the road. I've seen a few Japanese touring models and two BMW 1200gs', otherwise, pure Harley. Feels great to be riding America's bike through America.
I made it to South Dakota where I hooked up with SDLumpy from this forum. I took him up on a very gracious offer for a hot meal and a bed. I brought him the filter and we changed out the old and gave her some fresh blood.
A BIG thanks again Lumpy to you and your wife for bringing me into your home and being so very gracious. You two are wonderful people and a great example of the rider bond we all share.
LOL... it's Okay...I have so many friends that travel day in and day out and I do a little myself...
Packing for a bike trip is tricky though... I have a CPAP machine that always takes more room than I want... Looks like Knuckle head did good with packing though...
