Default Filter

I think the answer is that a metric sized filter wrench fits it...I don't have mine in front of me right now but I know it says the size in millimeters and it fits perfect.

Method no. 1639 for getting oil filters off:

You know that old paint bucket full of rusty old bolts and NUTS that accumulates in every garage,,? You got a bit o contact cement too ? If all you need is a nut to remove a favored filter which doesn't happen to have one, it can, within about 20 min prior to your oil change.

Light wipe of CS on filter top and same on 1 face of nut, wait 20 min, stick nut on filter, remove filter with socket set.

Just don't stick one on you don't have a socket for.

Somebody should invent a small round steel plate with 3 puncturing teeth welded to one face and a nut welded to the other. Stamp a HD Logo on it somewhere, chrome it, and sell em for 50 bux .

Don't laugh, people pay more than that for "scavenger" pucks !

I thought the same, I even tried tapping with a rubber mallet. Still couldn't seat the wrench on the HD filter. Returned the cap wrench already, but now that I've gotten all the replies to my post, I know that I can go with a couple different options as far as filters and wrenches go.
Thank you all for the input. 👍🏻

I have a filter wrench in my toolbox that's a perfect fit for HD filters. No idea where it came from, though. I think it fit the filter from a Chrysler 2.2 liter four cylinder, but I don't remember which brand. It says "2571" and "B" on it also "CTA" and "U.S.A."

Fine for the ol F150 but where HD puts their filter mount, right next to an easily damaged sensor on some models, nestled tightly between the ABS unit and the front cylinder, you don't / can't really go all ape-**** on em. You can only comfortably get at em from the end. Thats why the little end nut is so popular but,,,, they aren't entirely problem free and the consequences of their failure can be lethal for both bike and rider.

When you've finally had enough of the acrobatics, fine tool artistry and goddamn messes, you pay up for a filter relocation kit and go back to changing filters like a man,,, beer in one hand, filter in the other.

I've used several different ones. the cheap one from harbor freight (didn't work), strap wrench (didn't work either), the genuine hd cap wrench (worked fine), but found the one that works the best, for me, is the rivco: https://www.denniskirk.com/283264.sk...ad=45713345557

I use HD filters, so I picked up the HD end cap wrench. Works easy. The only filter that I have not installed on the Limited was the one the they put in at the factory. Correctly installed the oil filter should be pretty easy to remove. But I can't get a hand grip on the Limited's filter, have to snake the end cap wrench in there.
