Well, fine folks of the forum, all good things as they say, must come to an end. This end occurred on I-15 southbound about 130 miles north of St. George, Utah. Exit 146, to be specific. I will never forget that exit.
I noticed the RPM gauge bouncing around slot higher than the usual 3200rpm @75mph. It's was creeping upwards of 4k and up to 5k. I pulled off the highway, checked for loose cables and connectors, hoping it was just a faulty tech. I couldn't find any glaring issues, so proceeded to start her back up. No juice. Nothing. Checked the battery connections, all good. I pulled out my portable charger and gave her a quick shot. Still nothing. So I bypassed the starter switch and went with the manual button on the side. She fires right up. Showed full bolts on my gauge. I got back up on the highway and this time was hitting against the redline at 60mph in 5th. Immediately pulled over and called it. I don't want to damage the motor any more than it might already be.
I suspect, since I can override the starter switch and get a fire up from the battery, I might have a bad stator?
I'm not sure. I spent yesterday getting a tow and a uhaul to being her the final 450 miles home.
so close!
