Filled the primary with BelRay transmission/primary oil. Finished up the now super simple and clean mounting setup for my RSD cafe seat to firmly stay in place in a way it was never intended to be mounted. Counter sunk the subframe for the bolt to fade nicely into the darkness beneath the seat; used a flange bolt turned upside down using the flanged edge to put pressure on the fiberglass seat pan from the I side and cut a hole just wide enough for the flats of the flange bolt to fit in securely without having to hold it. Mounted a new two position stop/run switch on the mounting plate for the headlight fairing. Getting so close to being finished I can't wait to ride again it's been two years too long. Hopefully the other riders at The Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride in Seattle on September 24th don't hate me too much for my unmuffled flattrack pipes!

Kind of like when the fat girlfriend drinks too much and passes out?

Default Longest ride (so far)

Took my whitey sportster out around today going 60miles. I know it's not much but it was my longest ride since getting my license and getting my bike last month. Even was out when the sun went down - realized stock headlight even on high was not very bright (a LED replacement added to the growing list of add ons I want)

Also my speedo stopped working for a bit on the ride which was weird as it was only for about 2miles. When I stopped at a stop sign it came back - time to search the forum to see if anyone else had had this and how to fix.

Happy and safe safe riding everyone

I put one of
these LED headlights these LED headlights
on my Sporty one year / 9,000 miles ago and it's still perfect. I can't believe I put up with the stock bulb as long as I did.

Noticed that the lower mounting nut on my #2 cylinder exhaust flange wasn't threading all the way onto the stud. Took a peak at, low and behold the first quarter inch of threads were gone.... Soaked the stud in kroil, gave it a few taps with a hammer then, let it sit over night. Came back after work and purposefully cross threaded the nut on the stud as tightly as possible then was able to back the stud out of the head. Glad I noticed this issue now instead of later

If I'd have known, I'd have stuck with my old go-to of Castrol 20W-50 Power RS V-Twin 4T.
They do recommend NOT to use synthetics...and I would not use a true synthetic in mine.

Syn3 is a wannabe partial synthetic. Plus I am using a 25% stronger clutch spring. I don't think I would have given it a try if I was using the 15% stronger spring.

I figured I'd try it and have been happy with it.

Huge problem gentlemen! Had a exhaust stud that refused to back out of the head. The stud was broken off nearly flush with the head; I had drilled the stud and was using an easy out to remove it. I felt something give which I thought was the bolt breaking loose so I continued. Turns out the easy out had broken and now I'm stuck with how to get this easy out and exhaust stud out of the head.

Holy ****.... That sucks! Can you weld a wrench to it...? I busted the head off of one of my derby cover bolts a couple weeks ago:

Thankfully my e-z-out stayed in one piece.

What I did to mine today:

I'm prepping to take my bike on a trip to PA for work. It is a little over 350miles each direction. I will be leaving in the morning and knowing that, based from a comfort standpoint, a Sportster is not the ideal mode of transportation for a trip this long I have been trying to do everything I can today to make the ride as easy on my body as possible.

Sometimes after a couple hours of riding my throttle hand will cramp up from being in the same position for so long. I had seen some posts about guys making cruise control devices out of zip-ties and thought I would give it a shot.

What did you do to Your Sportster Today?-7ivraodl.jpg

Trimmed it up a bit and took'er for a spin. L.I.B. it works! And really well too! This should help out a little with the long stretch of highway I have ahead.

I was really hoping my fittings would be in so I could finish my air suspension by the time this trip came up. I got to looking at my order and I had mistakenly ordered some Chinese fittings that were also shipping from Vachina. I guess they're not expected to arrive until the 18th.
