FINALLY, got me an HD. I'm happier then a pig in **** but have a few questions. Do I need a sock on my air cleaner during bath time to prevent issues, just avoid all together?
My bike also came with the orange Screamin' Eagle tuner, no cables, and looks as if I can go download software for free to alter as needed and mods change? I did some preliminary searching but nothing in depth; bike has Cobra Speedster Slashdowns on it and was done by Colonial HD so it runs great now, just curious.
Congrats! I have a 16 Fat Bob also, but can't answer your questions. I sure hope I don't need the sock, because I didn't get one with mine. Watching for better responses......
Yes me too, if you're in VA I'm right over the mountain from you. The owners manual even shows the sock over the filter in the removal/replacement diagram but maybe it's extra? Does the seat come off via one single screw?
Yep I'm just over the mountain - let's get together for a ride.
The seat I can help with. Take the screw out (I replace mine with a knurled bolt you can take out by hand); as you pull the seat back run the strap into the slot between the front part of the seat and the rear part of the seat until the front of the seat disengages from the frame. Tilt the seat and pull it out of the strap loop and you are done.
Congrats on the new scoot. It's a great platform! The tuner shouldn't be much different than the TTS unit. Post that up in the dyno room for some good input. As far as the sock/cover goes I've never ran with one and never had an issue. Washes included.
As long as you don't have the paper filter, you'll be fine. I got caught out in a huge downpour, and rode home fine. That hail sure was cold when it started soaking through my crotch!
But the air cleaner, it was okay. Just don't blast it with the hose.
Awesome, thanks for the input. I'll pick one up when I find one but will use caution till then, not sure if it's a SE filter or the plain HD OEM in there honestly.
I too have a. 16 Fat Bob. I did buy a rain sock for my bike. I get caught in rain from time to time and I am not willing to take chances. The rain sock didn't cost much.
