I had a Switchback but sold it in favor of a Streetbob that I modded to my personal tastes. I sold the Bob to get a Street Glide and regretted it. A lot. Enough to track down the person I sold the Bob to and buy it back. The touring bike while cool just isn't for me. I'm 5'11" 200lbs and the Dyna just feels right.

I love my wide glide and would never get rid of it. It is a big part of my life. Even if I would get a touring bike someday my Dyna will always be with me.

Default The Hype

I see a lot of excitement on the boards today, over nothing.

Kids are getting jacked up over a rectangular headlight or a M8 engine or a monoshock or whatever.

Donald Trump would say these are all fake news, and they are. These so called upgrades are eye candy for those who will buy them.

Go read the news. Sales are down, they are cutting jobs and closing shops to save costs.

A do-it-All frame will save them costs. Thats one of the biggest reasons they are doing it. Ignore the more rigid frame or whatever they are claiming to have improved. Sharing platforms is the oldest trick in the car industries to lower the costs.

The M8 engine is smoother and has about 5 more pounds of torque, so what?

There was a time when everyone was trying to copy HD because they had this cool vibration, now they are bending backward to make it as smooth as possible. For who? For those younger crowd they are trying to make buyers from.

Like I said before, HD is having a identity crisis. Pretty soon you wont be able to tell a HD from a Metric anymore. But the more they distance themselves from the core HD gene the more valuable and unique the Dynas will become.

Having that said, it's not the first time a line has stopped and then came back. Camaros did, and there are others.

Just got home form a ride and took this pic. I like it today more than ever.

I loved my softail when I had it. I still think it would be nice to add a Road Glide to my garage but how much do I love my Dyna? After looking at the new lineup, this is the first time I can ever remember not wanting anything new. For once...I'm good.

Paid cash for my LR this past Spring, it's mine and I love it! Right now, I don't see ever selling it.

I have a Dyna and a Road King. If my garage caught fire I'd tip the Road King over to get the Dyna out.

I love that I bought a Dyna before they went away. Getting ready for our long Reno run. Need to get my new risers put on. This will be may last long run for this year.

Default Can't sell the same old thing forever.

I love my Superglide. But I know what it is and it is not. Harley is not trying to cater to us that have bikes and will not be riding forever. They are trying to get new buyers into their market. Thats what you do to survive in buisness.
I'ved loved Harleys since I was 8 years old when my father brought home his 1963 XLH. I knew how they were back then. Nobody today would tolerate the kick start routine, the maintence reliability issues and lack of comfort those bikes and the British put you through.
About 10 years after the last of the kick start Harleys, my friends were still bitchin about the loss. I asked them why werent they looking for a crank start on their Fords?
I'd rather have a reliable electric start.
Point is I'll keep my Dyna, if I want a new bike I'll settle for something smoother and faster, lighter shocks or no exposed shocks.
Companies gotta move with the times or sink. Check out Oldsmobile, Kodak, and Colt (I want a Python). To see what I mean
