Im on my 4th rear tire and all of them have cupped between 3k and 4k miles. I rode them like that til they were slick. I check air pressures before every ride. I've ran 40, 42, 44 psi in them and they still cupped. Michelin told me there are a few things that cause a tire to cup but most cupping issues are caused by low air pressure. Just put a new Commander II on and going to run 48 psi in it and see if that helps. I do ride 2 up most of the time anyway. Havent seen much cupping issues out of Avon tires and they recommend up to 50 psi in their tires, so maybe there is something to it.

So I called the dealer today to see if my ignition lock issue would be covered under warranty (factory warranty is up on 9/28) and also asked about the tire, knowing all well what they would say.

The service manager told me that My mileage is a record in their books, and that these tires are only good for 7K max. - I called bullshit on that, as I would get 17K on my 06 rear tire. His response was they were narrower tires and the wider ones don last as long..

On the key getting stuck in the ignition front, he told me to take it out and spray the **** out of it with PB blaster. And if it still sticks to bring in in, and they will try to get it replaced.

Air pressure is too low, that I usually the reason my tires cup. I bumped it up 2-3 more psi.

make sure you keep pressures higher than the bike asks for. I think it likes like 42-42 psi

I'm running 48 on my Metzler 888 and with 6000 on it so far so good. I think this has been a lot of the issues that caused the cupping is in fact too low of tire pressure. I'll keep you all posted on my end result.
