Default Crash - write off or saveable?

So last Thursday i got into a crash with a car;

I'm going straight in a clear bus lane (Taxis and motorcycles can use bus lanes in the UK) and an oncoming car, decides to turn through the gap in traffic, colliding in my path, I've left a beautiful hole in the side of their car, and they've wrecked the whole front end of my wide glide. (The usual excuse of "I didnt see you"). They never asked if i was Ok, or even shared any words with me, it was the police who provided me their details and acted as middle-man to the situation.

Insurance are saying that if the total cost of damage exceeds 66% of the value of the bike, they consider it a write-off.

I have a harley dealer just down the road from me I'm looking into seeing if insurance will allow me to use them to do the inspection etc.

What do you guys think of the damage? I know its difficult to tell from photos sometimes, but due to the size i can only upload so much.

Do i brace myself for a write-off, or is this looking salvageable?

I understand your pain. I went through the same thing recently. Here is my post with much good information about keeping it or letting the insurance company tale it. I hope it helps.

One last thought: The bike is metal, paint, and chrome. It can be replaced. You can't. Good luck to you.

I'd say totaled. Probably never be "right" again anyway.

Are you okay?
Frame neck bends easy, I'm guessing totaled.
Here in the states they settle two separate values, property and personal damage. They like to settle the property quickly, and it was easily negotiated without an attorney. The personal end I had up to 1 year to settle. Find out your timelines and don't rush to settle, on either end.

Totally gutted... i loved that bike, It was the ride that spoke to me the most. Only had the wide glide since April
I'm actually ok, i remember the initial bang, flew a little through the air, hit the ground unscathed, total miracle.

I've had a little look around and have found a nice street bob that would be within my budget, should the worst happen.

I will be the odd man out on this one.
If you can buy it back or get to keep it for next to nothing....
But you would have to get it for the right price and be up for a project.
If the neck is tweaked it would require a new frame (repair price jumps/doubles).
If the neck if fine it wouldn't be that bad, new front end and the other parts.
All bolt on stuff ...... if the neck/frame is straight.

But if you have to have it perfect and don't do your own work.....
Take the check and move on.
