No big deal, just need to order a new peg and disassemble the speedometer once again. This time I'll use super glue for this stubborn plastic cover.
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
Since the exhaust on my bike is never too hot, I decided to use the same matte black powder coating that I used for the tanks and fenders. Applied one layer, baked for 12 min at 400F, then another layer and another 12 min in the oven. Two thick coats should last forever!
Because of that, I had to search for an alternative route which took me away from the gas stations. The absence of cell phone signal wasn't helping either. After a couple of wrong turns, I found myself on the gravel back road near Fort Hunter Liggett, surrounded by combat training camps and exploded car shells.
I didn't trespass anything, so I stopped the first Humvee that I saw coming towards me. Soldiers were very polite and told me the nearest gas station is 32 miles away. Odometer was reading 111 miles by then.
I wasn't sure if I can make it. However, the fact that I still didn't switch to reserve gave me some confidence.
By the time I pulled up to the gas station, the odometer showed me 143 miles. Still not on reserve! I filled up the tank with just 2.3 gallons! Incredible!
