Now that the riding season is coming to a close up here one of the mods I want to do this winter is ape hangers. I'm thinking of going with 14" and I want a bar that's comfortable and looks good. I've been researching the KST Mayhem bar and it looks really good and the Paul Yaffe bars to name just a few. I stumbled on Factory 47 bars on you tube that could also be an option.
If there are some other bars I should be looking at I would like some ideas and if some of you guys could comment on how you like your apes that would be helpful too. I'll do the install myself....
Following-Looking to do the same on my 16 SB. Found a few pairs I like, bookmarked at home on my Ipad, going to get it done soon. It's hard finding a pair that look good, with the narrow front end, some work, some don't. I really don't care for T-Bars, unless on one with a fairing, but that's not the look I'm going for.
And might get more response, over on the Dyna page, maybe ask there too?
Edit-Never mind, I read Street BOB, not Street GLIDE. My bad, disregard.

The factory 47 bars are 39" from grip to grip and the KST bars 36". 39" seems awfully wide, not sure that would be very comfortable for the mid back. I can't see myself going any taller than a 14". I think that's a good compromise as 12" might feel a little short and won't quite give me the look I'm shooting for.
I'd definitely stick to 14s. You have to put mirrors on the bars for 12s...personally I think this takes away from the look. I hate my 12s only for that reason and will be putting 14s on soon.
Paul Yaffes are my first vote, but the wiring harness was not fun to run through the bars. Factory 47 are my close second. That's just me though.

Here's what mine look like...and I kept the mirrors as I can see real good where they are....

Although only 10", very happy with my KST Mayhem Bagger bars. Price wise compared to the Yaffe stuff they are a bargain. If you want chrome KST uses polished stainless rather than chrome plating, looks similar but an easy repair if you get a scratch...
I am looking at getting apes for my 17 RGS. In my search many that I have looked at say 12 inch will work with stock cables which is a bonus. I have 14 inch apes on my Road King and quite happy with them but asking myself if I really want to change cables on another bike.
