Hey all, been wracking my brain trying to find an engine guard for my 2003 Dyna low rider. Believe it or not, Harley doesn't make one for it. Also, I've seen some advertised elsewhere that supposedly fit, but go to another website where the same guard is listed as NOT fitting. Of course, EBay has cheap Chinese crap that I don't really trust. Anyone with a 2003 out there who has one that actually fits so I can figure out where to go? Thanks.
Receipt from prior owner just says install I believe not the part number. He just threw money at the bike so I would think Harley. Proof they exist if nothing else.
Training wheels keep a bike from tipping over. Engine guards don't keep a bike from tipping over. If you have been riding for 55 years an never had a bike go down weather your on it or not. You have to be the luckiest biker ever. I consider a Engine Guard like a Smoke Detector, hope like hell I'll never need it. But????

Spartan,
Here's some info from the 2010 parts catalog.
I have one hanging in my garage that came off my 2003 FXD when I switched to floorboards. With footboards or forward controls mounted you'll need p/n 49218-01

Engine guards are like training wheels for adults. Hideous.
maybe so...or not. To each his or her own...
but they will definitely minimize damage to your tank and engine when you drop it...and may even save your leg...and they give you someplace to mount highway pegs for those long day rides if you have long legs and forwards and ride a lot and don't GAF what other folks think...
just say'n...
Those engine guards are pretty common on eBay for around $100 or so. I read a discussion here recently where a member used the 2006 and up part on an few years older Dyna and said it worked great. They do look the same as the older part from the photos. I use an engine guard on my SG and my son has one on his '04 LR but I don't have any personal experience with that particular compatibility situation.

I've got the Lindby on my 03 Low Rider. I had at the time forward controls so I got #104-1 for the Wide Glide since the Wide Glide comes stock with forward controls. It you go to Lindby's web site and look at the different bars, the only problem I have is the lower bracket hangs down a little and I have to watch how far I lean into a curve. I've scraped it a bunch of times. Makes you pucker up a little when it happens. The 105-1 for all Dyna's except the Wide Glide look to not hang down so far. I've since changed over to floorboards from a Switchback and if I had to buy again, I'd order that bar instead as it doesn't look to hang down that low.
I do really like the Lindby bars as their style gives you another place to put your feet.
