Just bought Progressive 944 Ultra Lows for my 2017 Road King.
Starting this thread now because I might be able to give a good description in about a week. I went from stock shocks, to progressive 412s (11.5 inches), to now buying the 944 ultra lows (11.5 inches/standard spring). I'll have the new ones on once they get here but I know this is a question that I've been wanting answered myself so hopefully I'll be able to provide full feedback shortly. The suspension is different in these 2017 models so it's tough to judge based on my past motorcycles. I just want a lower bike with good ride quality. The 412s are not as good as the stock shocks on the 2017s, but they are lower. Now waiting to see what the 944s are like.
Save your money and send them back . Your not gonna get a good ride or handling form
a shorter shock. Buy a good 13' pair and learn how to set your sag . Think of a shock as a sponge .You cut the sponge down and it doesn't feel the same when you press down.

I'm aware of the loss of comfort from the lower shocks, but for me it's worth the trade off. It's much more comfortable, especially in stop and go traffic, to have my feet firmly on the ground.

If you need to have the bike real low then the 944 ultra low is the best option imho. Other good option is an adjustable rebound airride from Arnott but that is almost 3 times the money.

Yea, I'm currently retired so I don't have a ton of money to spend. The 944s were $650 and that's about as high as I want to go. I talked to the shop today and they're looking into other options like the Ohlins to see if they offer the shorter shocks.
