After all the years I still have my cammo war bag from MCRD,I still think we could have
made it to Village Pantry for smokes...If you ever did fire watch you will get that....
.......I suspect that most of the folks here, like myself, would do it again if asked.......
Not necessarily 'miss it' but if I had my time again I would do it all over again like a shot!
I spent 32 years, a long and fruitful career in the Royal Air Force from 1978 all the way through to 2010.
Worked on many different marques of aircraft from the 'Fat Alberts' (Hercules) to the Air to Air Refuelling tankers VC10s and Harriers and 16 years spent on Tornados. Best part of 8 years in Germany, Gulf War 1 Saudi Arabia Dahran, followed by two tours in Iraq and two in Afghanistan.
Had the best time of my entire 32 years/life at Fort Walton Beach on two prolonged TDYs at Eglin AFB hosted by 33TFW one to include Labor Day and the subsequent two years later for Spring Break.
I returned back to my home town in 2010. I consider myself very fortunate as in comparison to many of my mates who have led their lives like Hobbits and have very rarely ventured 'out of the Shire' I have had a varied and exciting military career spanning more than three decades and spent it travelling the World and meeting some wonderful people along the way.
For me USAF Ret, 1981- 2003. Mtn Home, Anderson Guam, Pease NH, Norton CA, Moody GA, Seymour-Johnson NC, Travis CA. Then the deployments. Qatar, Diego Garcia, Abu Dhabi, Somalia, Rhein Main Germany, Started in POL, then onto Life Support, and finished as a Gucci boy as Hydraulics on KC-10's. Loved the career. Really helped me define who I am.

Had a few trips to the desert and various other adventures, almost done, going to retire in two more years after 24.
I had a buddy in Egypt a couple years ago - I was surprised by the amount of fire they were taking. They were getting hit harder than we were in Afghanistan.
