Default Anyone Change their stock Heritage front wheel to 21" 3.5" wide

Hi Folks, after seeing the difference in the Project Softail video using the 21" Fat Daddy Wheel, appreciate if anyone has done this and if it effects the riding characteristics of the bike? Don't want to compromise my ride

Project Softail link

Was also looking to do the rear but would like to know if anyone has increased the rear wheel width (keeping stock size 16"), just like to know if this has been done and any ride difference (handling qualities).

This is a very popular mod. Many on the forums are running a 21" front wheel. It was actually one of the first things I did to my bike. The wheels get a ton of attention every time I'm out on it. The ride did change, but nothing drastic. A bigger wheel means it's going to be slightly harder to turn in a parking lot, you almost have to muscle the wheel a bit. But on the highway......no difference. Here is a pic of my bike. Now keep in mind, its lowered 2" in the front and 1.5" in the rear.

Just as D stated, it does change the ride alittle but well worth it for the looks. I've put about 12k miles on my wheel swap (and lowering the bike 2.5" front/2" rear) and wouldn't change a thing about it. I went with 21" x 3" front wheel with 120/70-21 and an 18" x 4.25" rear wheel 150/60-18.

To those of you who have lowered your bikes-- do you scrape the foot boards more now than before? Or does the bigger diameter of the wheel compensate for it?

My 2014 Heritage is more prone to drag the foot boards if I am not careful when turning. I would assume that the more you lower it, the more it will scrape. True?

I have a 21" on my two softails (Heritage and Deluxe). After a couple rides, you won't notice the difference. You are more "planted" with the 21" up front which is certainly a plus. The front is a bit heavier with the 21", but it's not an issue. Practice at slow speeds a couple times. I dropped the front end 1" on both bikes. Ron

Definitely on my shopping list for 2018 but I prefer the gangster look with the white wall tires, I understand they can be hard to keep clean but I believe they add so much more to the 21" wheel.

In process of changing from 18” front wheel to 21” on. a 2001 Fatboy. I am also adding Progressive monotube front suspension, so I am hoping the suspension helps with ride of bigger front wheel/tire. I tried to find a replacement Breakout front tire, but could not find one, so ended up going with 120/70-21 front tire and a Klockwerks Thickster fender.

It’s been a few months since I ordered everything, but if I remember correctly, I think all the tires I was finding in that size were bias. My back tire was radial and I did not want to mix them. If they do offer a radial, I will buy one next time I need a front tire. Thanks.
