Speaking of "Arrows" Iam reminded that an Avro Vulcan British nuclear bomber crashed into an eastside neighborhood 60 years ago Here in Detroit....

Never heard of that crash, still in grade school in '58. People claimed it was skimming the tree tops, but the crash report says it went in almost vertical (lost electric power way up, no control left). The small impact area supports the vertical/steep impact theory. Skimming tree tops, a plane that size could have cleared a long stretch of houses, not just 3.

It wasn't too long before that my Dad was shot down in Korea by a Chinese Mig and a Russian pilot. He was a flight engineer and floated around the Sea of Japan until picked up by a PBY Flying boat. He was a great Dad and the older I get the nicer he was but the issues vets have tend to be multi generational and effect attitudes for decades...Look at the "Hard Power" killing to victorys' failure to achieve an end to insurgencies in Vietnam , as well as later middle East conflicts with Israel against Hezballah as well as our failures against the much smaller and elusive Isil and Elquaida when the lessons we learned in the applications of "soft" power to win the good will of local populations minds and good will have been largely forgotten by ou war planners. this stands in cotrast to killing your way to victory and the unavoidable distruction of villages and infrastructure and the deaths of women and children further hardening their hearts and minds aginst our goals as the townspeople see the insurgents , many of whom are locals, standing against our military might as "Davids" standing against the US "Goliaths". Many point out that the rise in US military industrial interests after the second world war and ever increasing influence in our aggresive imposition of power projection coincides with our decision making policies to increase military expenditures and the beginnings of "neverending wars" with no attainable or clear cut victories in sight. We have now officialy announced that we will not be pulling out of Syria at all, even at the end of hostilities so invest wisely in defense stocks boys we will now have 551 permanent encampments to pay for! It's good for business. Unfortunately the monetary psychic toll put on our troops is nowhere to be found on a cost overrun military spreadsheet and is now being paid in full by the youngest new generation of deployed soldiers with absolutely zero chance for victory in these unwinable conflicts over oil and other destitute countries natural resources. Just my thoughts Moldy.

The nuclear genie is out of the bottle and I just hope this pounding on small countries we don't get along with doesn't end up in a desperate and angry "we'll take them with us".

Clearly you understand my point exactly. It is disgusting in my opinion that we have been manipulated by militaristic revenue producing industral factions into a 17 year war with no end in site against a barren country with no army, air force , or navy and an uneducated impoverished populace of goat and sheep herders...I also believe our cadre of profesional lifetime politicians are complicit in selling out our country.
