Default Mounting for TPMS

I bought a motorcycle TPMS (
Amazon Amazon
) for my 2018 Street Glide Special (DAMN YOU HARLEY FOR NOT PUTTING TPMS ON BIKEs COSTING LESS THEN $40k WHEN EVERYONE ELSE DOES NOW!!!) and was wondering how best to mount the display. I want to place it below the gas gauge to the left of the entertainment system. I don't want to place a permeant mount or drill holes. I want something temporary like a good velcro that I can just pull the device off for charging and yet secure enough to withstand shacking, weather and speed that won't mess up the black plastic finish. Anyone using a velcro like product thats heavy duty enough for outside weather but won't mess my bike up?

I mounted mine on the media door. Figured if I screwed it up it would be cheaper to replace than the whole fairing

If I had to do it again I'd mount it a little lower... it hits before the door is fully open, not a big deal tho.

Good point!

I wanted to keep that door clear for my cell phone however, I would be able to plug into my usb dongle and thats a plus...

I used a 2x3 piece of aluminum I had sitting around, painted it gloss black, and mounted it to the right clamshell using the mounting screws and standoffs from a old cup holder. Used the velcro to stick it to that and it’s been on there a year without an issue at all.

I kind of like this unit more than the FOBO ones. Quick question how does the monitor wire into the bike?

I thought about the Fobo. However, I wanted a display to alert me immediately if the tire begin to deflate and thats why I went with a display. My phone stays in the faring out of site and we will be linked to the phone through the Harley Whim. Since I would not be able to see the phone. The only alert I would get would be audible through the phone to the bluetooth and not sure what that would be like.

Me too. Been using the FOBO system for 7 months and it is easy to use, robust, and just plain works great.

Mr.Softy, I wired mine in via the “accessory connector” behind the left side-cover. I just popped the tank off, dropped the wire in the wire trough, and made the connection with an accessory connector (soldered & heat shrinked). Got the connector, that mates with the factory “accessory connector” on the bike, from the dealer. I wanted “in tire” sensors and wanted the unit to turn on/off with the ignition switch. It just requires a switched power source (because the system I used doesn’t have a on/off switch on it)... super simple install, and i’m sure there’s easier places to grab power from up front, I just went with what I knew would work.
