It's not too hard at all, of course this is the 3rd time having all of this apart so that makes it easier for me.
This was just before sliding the fork tubes out which is pretty simple.
But like everyone has said use the manual. I removed the inner fairing but to do the forks you don't need to do that, just the ignition cap.
I am installing a Legend Axeo Cartridge system

After three years of riding my Ultra Limited it's time to upgrade the suspension as the stock one is just terrible. After some careful review I'm going to order the DK Stage II Complete Suspension Upgrade 14+ Touring package #2. It comes with the following:
Includes FST Fork Cartridge System
Includes Twin Adjustable Shocks
Straight-Forward Install-Comes with Instructions
I think the shocks will be fairly easy to install, but not so sure about the fork cartridge system. For those that have done this, how easy was it? also you will need some brass jaws , just inserts, for you bench vise so you can clamp them in the vise at the lower flange where the axle goes through. note the direction of the axle bushings for reassembly and don't hang the calipers on the hoses hang them on some machanics wire or some twine.
Thanks
i have a 14 limited. when i did my 50,000mi svc i changed the fork oil. the rushmores are different. you have to remove the forks from bike. the caps are so close to the handle bars you cant get them off without removing the fork from the bike. the pinch bolts can be loosed and let the fork down a bit to loosen the caps. you have to make a wrench to get them loose, they are a 3/4 in allen hex. i used a half inch bolt and welded a nut to it. of course the bike has to be on a jack. you will also need a 10mm 12pt socket to get the calipers off. the fender and wheel will have to come off also. just crack the caps loose with the bolt tool. and lower the fork out of the the triple tree. then you will have to make a tool to hold the upper fork tube for reasembly i used a woodworkers clamp and hole sawed a place to clamp to the tube, i lined it with old inner tube rubber. that is for reassembly. you can remove the caps and pour out the fork oil. the instulation will be reall easy and instructions will come with the cartriges. the ign switch cover has to come off and if you have a lit fender tip the front fairing also, only four screws and a plug not bad. if you need any info shoot me a pm.
