No matter what, keep the bike forever. It is an awesome keepsake. I was and still am living out of the states right now, and when my father pasted, I dont have those big keepsakes. I have a couple of really small items. (and a few guns that Im keep at my brothers until I make back stateside) --
So I finally got around to repainting the engine and cleaning the fins. It was a long process but looks awesome. My buddy Pete did the powder coating. Cant wait to get this project back together.
I just had a flashback. The cooling fins on my Night Train looked all pitted and shitty like yours did. I laid in the driveway and hand sanded them from 220 grit all the way to 2000 grit to smooth them up and give them a nice polished finish. I figure I had about 14 hours of work into them over 3 days. It was a bitch, but man did they look amazing afterward.
