Finally getting around to venting the breather bolts out of the intake. Bought a new filter last ride of last season & I'd like to keep it from filling with oil.
Im using 2, 90* spark plug caps (got from my local mechanic for 0$). A piece of new fuel line I had from another project, some worm gear clamps, and a brass "T". The T and the fuel line cost me about 11Cad.
**In the pics the rigid line looks like it is closer to the gear than it actually is. As well, the bolts for the sprocket cover keep the two from ever contacting each other**

It all sits directly behind the filter. I cut the pieces off the back of the filter where the breather bolts would normally line up and go into. That leaves space for the 90* spark plug caps and hoses. A great idea (not originally mine) to keep the oil from recirculating back into the filter.
Was still getting some oil mist from using the catch can under the air cleaner. I decided to reroute the line to the rear of the bike and cap it off with a uni filter.
I had the seat and side cover off my bike for the first time today to see what's under it and to clean it up. Was kind of hoping to find a tuning box, but no. I have some questions.
Marked with red: I assume that's part of a battery tender? It's grounded to the exposed lug behind the side case and connected (with inline fuse) to the + on the battery... So I'm missing the brain for it?
Marked in blue: can I just remove the passenger peg mounts and hardware without causing a problem with something else? I won't be needing them. (insert the unsprung weight joke here )
Marked in blue: Kinda wondering what the purpose of velcro would be there? (looking for evidence that there might have been a tuner on it one point)

Decided I'd start going over a few things seeing the bike has 2500 miles since the 1000 mile service the dealer did.
Checked the drive belt deflection, it was fine. Also checked the tire pressures, motor mount fasteners, and finally the primary drive chain. I know the motor oil level is fine, I checked it the other day when I got home.
Was kind of shocked that the primary chain had a little over 5/8" deflection, actually closer to 3/4". Makes me wonder if the dealer checked it at the 1000 mile service. Anyway, adjusted it to 3/8"-7/16" of deflection (cold) per the manual.
