Yesterday it was 48 degrees, today, it's snowing. Currently there is about 8 inches on the ground and more still coming. The outside temperature is currently 32 degrees. For the last half hour or so the lights have been flickering and the power went off for about a minute. I really expect a power outage of several hours or more when that starts to happen. The last power outage lasted better than 18 hours.

I took this picture several hours ago:

Your neighbors to the North haven't even had the teasers this year. It's been pretty much 45/25 every day - thermometer says 29.7 right now - and that's not Canadian degrees. I at least hope the fruit trees do well this season!

LOL! Right aboot now, the poor folks in the Midwest are starting to say, "enough is enough."
Meanwhile, I think I'll go for a ride today.
Don't wanna go downtown as the "Carlsbad 5000" is going on. (Foot race.)

Maybe out to the desert as it'll be about (sorry, ABOOT) 70F!

Where are you riding today?

Figured you guys would get hit the hardest. We had 5" and lost power for around 12 hr. Just fire the generator up.

Looking at it, I'd have to agree. Though I posted these in another thread, here are some pictures from 8:00am this morning. Sorry about the lighting, but during the winter months I tend to live in the shadow of the mountain top. And yes, the sun was shinning.

We ended up with a total of 12.25 inches. That was measured from out in the yard. On my deck it totaled 11 inches.

I wasn't really all that concerned with a power outage if it happened. I don't use propane or oil to heat anyway, and those types of furnaces I believe need electricity or they won't fire. (I have a wood burning stove for heat and can be used to cook on if necessary) As for lighting, I have LED flashlights and lanterns as well as 2 oil lanterns. Other things like cooking since I have an electric stove, coffee maker, refrigerator/freezer and well pump won't work without electricity but even there I wasn't concerned. I ran off extra water and made a fresh pot of coffee (12 cup) just in case because I NEED my coffee to function! I don't even care if it's cold! I do have a small generator that I figured I'd run in the morning if necessary, after I had my fill of coffee.

But there wasn't a power outage, just the flickering of the lights and occasionally the power would drop out for a minute, but nothing like the last one (18+ hours) I do plan on running a line to the breaker box and adding a switch so I can switch from one service to the other on at least one circuit. That's from supplied over to the generator. (1500/1200 watts) Not a lot, but it works for me plus I can haul it around to wherever I'm working that's further than 100 feet from the house which was actually my reason for purchasing it to begin with.

To stay on topic, sort of, I didn't go for a ride today though I could have. I cleared my 100 foot gravel driveway to the dirt road and the road had been plowed at about 5am which was sort of unusual. Plus the high for today was 42 degrees. I didn't ride because I had other things to take care of.
