Made the switch to a Road King from my Sportster Nightster and ready for some longer rides this season!
Picked this 2012 up from a forum member down in NC, flew down and drove it back in a pickup truck the same day. Everything was super smooth, first time buying something like this sight unseen.
Got her out of winter storage and did a full cleaning, waxing, and silicon sealing! Picked up a new LED headlight and passing lights and have a few more goodies in store for this season.
Night and day difference in comfort but the weight difference really stands out to me. I am 5'9" 155lbs and this bike takes a lot more control in stop and go than my sporty did.
I am seeing a resurgence in Roadkings and RK classics, like the Ultras were popular then the Streetglides, now the Roadglides. My buddy and I both switched from Ultras for the same reason, we don't do extreme traveling and the top heave Ultra just became too much. Nice bike, looks like a lot of work was put into it. Good luck!
Congrats on the King, looks like you have a great bike there with the 103. I read the 'for sale' ad, also sounds like you got a pretty good deal for a relatively low mileage lightly modded bike.
Yes, it's a huge upgrade from a Sporty. I rode FXRs until I bought my King back in 2013, and while the King felt big at first, I couldn't go back to a smaller bike now.
