Boy I agonized over this.
I have the original shield that came with the '98 Anniversary FXDWG, but it's big and when I'm behind a truck the bike 'swims' in the turbulence because of the shield. I wanted something a lot more compact that wouldn't change the look of the bike, and would break the wind off my body. So I bought the same one I had on my Sporty - a Slipstreamer. Not fancy, but hopeful it doesn't change the bike's looks so much while reducing wind fatigue on longer rides.
Rear wheel bearings....gone. New ones installed and she spins smooth! While the wheel was off, mothers power ball mini was my best friend to make them shine.
just got a 98'fxdwg well I've been fixen it up and have came to oil pan leak, can anybody tell me do I have to pull the whole fricken tranny to pu a new gasket in it?? any prevous knowlegde would be appreciated(spelling doesnt count does it) Thanks I'll be back later
Installed the AN big brake kit, replaced the pads, installed the wheel with the new tire, put in the Ride on, and since it actually was over 40 degrees went for a ride.

Installed my pipes last weekend, but found out they're Freedom Independence Shorty pipes instead of V&H Shortshots, like I was told by the seller. The mounting bracket included looks like it's for a Softail instead of my Dyna, but these are pretty short, so not sure I really need it. Was really surprised at how LOUD these things are! WOW!! Now, I'm afraid I'm going to annoy my neighbors when I take off at 6am to go to work, and also afraid the wife won't want to ride with me anymore, since her ears are pretty sensitive, and the back end of these are about 4-5" behind the passenger peg, which was moved forward about 2" and down about 3" from stock. Still, they're black with chrome tips, and look great on my black bike. Would have considered getting quieter baffles, but it seems that Freedom thinks theirs are gold plated, wanting about $120 for just the two little baffles for these. Guess my friends weren't kidding when they told me HD stands for hundred dollar!!
