I live s stone's throw from NYC, I am able to get all of the local stations fine, but the truth is, I don't use the radio much. This is nice because I can put the cover on and off without thinking about it and I do get adequate reception )locally, I can't tell the difference). Most of my riding is day trips; but I think when I do longer, multi day rides, I may put the full size back on.
I still run a stock housing and just a plug an play led bulb.........seems bright enough, coupla notices that they are bright but from other motorcyclists

Anything bigger than stock is going to require some mods. Just depends on how much modding you want to do. A 21" will require a fender bracket or a new fender. Anything bigger will require raking the front end and fender mods.
