I broke the nipple which holds the jiffy stand spring on the bottom of the frame! I guess my 1200XL Sportster was lower than I thought! DAGGNABBIT!!! Any suggestions?

I just bought a 2008 1200L and did that putting it on the trailer to bring it home. I drilled and tapped it for a 10-24 bolt. Not a lot of fun but it worked.
Some people ride with the squeal and are fine with it, but I couldn't deal with it.
I replaced my spring plate today. No squealing, yet!
If anyone wants my old (4.5K miles) spring plate for free just PM me. (Dunno why you'd want it tho!)
If anyone lives near me and is hesitant to do this "mod" just let me know and you can come over and replace it at my place.
One thing I love about HDs is they are so easy to work on, and there are tons of videos and guides available.
I prefer the clutch feel w/o the spring plate. Stock, the clutch felt vague and spongy. I guess that was the spring plate "doing its job". Now the clutch is crisp and defined. I suppose HD puts in the spring plate to help new riders who haven't learned how to use a clutch smoothly.

I hit something, after going over a small speed bump in a parking lot and discovering the water on the other side was hiding a hole deep enough to let my scooter hit the speed bump. I was able to ride away by tying a piece of string on the end of the stand and holding it up while riding.
I had it welded so the stand would stay retracted. Now the stand won't stay down real well unless there is some weight on it. Any ideas?
I went with some bigger jets to see if it would make he bike happier. S&S Super E now has a .0265 intermediate and a .066 main. Now I wish that I had the newer version with the main jet air bleed so I could dial everything in a bit more.
