Changed out the steering races and bearings as well as the swingarm bearings. Install my SMT Machine Big Fatty wheel with matching rotors and Avon Commander tires. Installed a set of Öhlins S36DR1L internal gas charged shocks. Burly brand 12 bars.
Adam, great story. Thank you for the honor of letting us into your family by sharing this.
I truly fear the day I loose my dad. He is my hero and I have made so many memories with him that I will cherish forever.
A friend of mine lost his father, who like you, shared the road with him. My friend took his dads ashes after the cremation and added it to the clear coat of his bike so his father will continue to ride with him. While my dad doesn't ride, I know that I will continue to create memories while on my bike that I would love to share with my dad. I will be doing the same but only in the form of pin stripping.
Just throwing that out there to you as well in case you still have some of your dads remains and would like to continue riding with him.
What an awesome makeover of your Dad's scoot Adam! Looks amazing! A wonderful tribute to your mentor and best friend! Looking at the bike up on the lift in it's mock-up state, you should consider switching out those two individual handlebar clamps to a much stronger one-piece design along with new poly riser bushings if you haven't already. Those new bars will have a lot more leverage than the stockers. Bike is coming along great can't wait to see the finished product!
My buddy Jeff Gates of After Hours Paint Works has been putting in the midnight oil painting my parts. Hard thing to balance a family (with a new born) and a 50+ hour a week full time body job. I cant thank him enough for his hard work. enough of that, here are some pictures
The paint on the fender isn't totally done yet either. we are going back and forth what we should do as far as design, or fade, or nothing at all. but there will be another round of clear going on.
Awesome story there Adam! The bike is gonna be fabulous! I'm so sorry to hear of your loss of your father. I lost my dad early Dec '16 so it's still fresh. You're a fortunate son for sure to have had a father that shared a passion with you. You're doing it right! God bless you bro
