When I test road my 2018 Road King with the M8 107 it immediately sold me on the bike and on the M8 engine. The M8 has a different “power curve” than did my earlier 103 TC and I immediately liked it better. I am at about 7,000 miles and the bike has run flawlessly. YMMV.
Bought a new 2016 Limited 103 and put 15k miles on it in 13 months. Absolutely loved that bike and would still be riding it if we had not tested a few M8’s.
Our 2017 CVO Limited with 114 just turned over 22k miles Sunday riding back from Daytona to North Carolina. It’s been to Rolling Thunder twice, York for the factory open house, full length of BRP and Skyline Drive, Arkansas, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Tennessee, Georgia and to Florida on four separate trips, once all the way to Key West. I’ve never enjoyed a bike more. No turning back for us. Even my wife as a passenger can feel how much more powerful this bike is that previous we have owned. Loaded down, two up we can get behind slow traffic and this baby will accelerate from 55 mph in 6 th gear to 80 with the twist of the throttle almost instantly. Zero issues except the clutch recall. Just put new tires on at 19,500 miles and all fluids stay right where they belong!
Happy shopping, there should be some real steals out there on the 16’s.
M8 FTW!! And the RK is hands down the bike to get!!!! Grab that sucker up and ride it like you stole it. All these worries you have now will be miles behind you in short order.
Just like every other Harley, you can make the M8 loud as hell. Just ask my neighbors.
I must be missing something in your posts.
I had a 110 TC with 585 cams, and a Bassani RR exhaust. L A F.
I did not think an M8 would ever come close in noise level after reading most of the BS spewed out around here...Man was I wrong.
'17 Limited 36k+ miles not a lick of problems with it. Very satisfied so far. Like anything else, pros & cons; you've gotta figure out which one balances better for you're needs & likes
