Going into my third riding season on this bike, all without a windshield. On past bikes I spent hundreds of dollars chasing that elusive "no buffeting" condition. No longer.
These days I wear a full face helmet, sit in front of a backrest, and couldn't be happier. I'm not on the slab much but when I am in most weather condtions I feel no buffeting and I'm able to comfortably take my left hand off the grip to signal with my hand for lane changes. The wind does not push me to the point where I feel like I have to fight it, since I installed the backrest. If I had to ride the slab daily or for long periods I'd likely spend money trying to find the best windshield but so long as my riding is for enjoyment only (no commute), and primarily on backroads I'll stay shield free and enjoy the buffet-free air and the resulting quieter ride without one.
Good luck with your search though, I think the small sport-type, top of headlight shields look great on a bike and would like to see one and hear from folks that have found and installed one.
Honestly, I wish someone would just make a short Fly Screen for the FLFBS instead of these gigantic up to your eyebrows windshields. I wouldnt want it much higher than the top of the bar risers.
I have found a flyscreen literally made for the Fatboy. 12" high. The lower lip cutout fits perfectly over the Fatboy cowl, and comes in clear, smoke and Solid gloss black, as shown.
It is from MRA, It's called the Roadshield "RO" model. You can order them online, and you will need the 28/32mm fitment kit.
I'm going to get one, so I'll post pics when done. Should be here this week.
