>>The main thing to prepare yourself for is the loss of useable fuel.<<
My five gallon Fatbobs are angled up way higher than any tank lift kit. And my petcock is still in the midpoint stock position and I still get better than 200 miles out of it with fuel remaining over the petcock. So I'd say the amount of "unusable" fuel with the kits you're talking about is negligible.
Have a 2inch on my Rocker and i personally think a 2 inch is perfect.
Made it myself out of flat stock cost about $5.00 for the steel at Home Depot, black spray bomb, done.

oh and no loss of usable fuel at all.... it does mark low on the needle on the tank but if you follow your digital fuel remaining its spot on.... I did a side by side run with a non lifted tank...
IMO, buy the kit from DK or any other ebay site....you pay $20 or so and be done with it, not searching around for random parts. I bought a can of pac blue pearl from color rite and spray painted them to match the rest of the bike. I agree with Irishwoodchuck about the 2" lift, definitely balances the tank out online with the rest or your bike.
Below are a few pics showing Rockers without and with a 2" lift.
DK tanks lifts are not flat metal, they are round to match the lines & frame of the bike, and offset so the tank ears don't have to bend when installed. They are powder coated and include hose & clamps, should you need them.
Hi guys, trying to do a 2 inch tank lift. The rear of the tank doesn’t move and allow front to lift up. It’s a single bolt on the rear. Anyone have any solution
Here ya go...just loosen rear bolt and retighten after installing lift.
