woke up this morning and wanted to go for a ride but my Odyssey battery has sh** the bed. even know i got about 3 years out of it i dont feel it was worth the extra money. what are my other options? also it is better to order on line or should i look for something local. thanks
What's wrong with the OEM Harley battery? Yeah, it's $117 but its easy, (probably) local, it's AGM (absorbed glass mat) you won't have to monkey around with shimming it and it should connect right up.
I live in Florida, too. The heat just kills batteries down here. People think it's cold that's hard on battries. Not. It's the heat.
The thing about AGM batteries is you want to give them a little shot in the arm every once in a while if the bike sits for any length of time. Not a lot of juice, just enough to keep it happy.
i have been doing a little looking around. i found this with great reviews the first link and the second seem to be the same battery (same part number) second one is cheaper with free shipping but the first one has a lot of GREAT reviews. let me know your thoughts
i have not ridden the bike for about 2 weeks. i have done that before with no problems always started right up. tried to start the bike and it was dead. not totally dead but it would not turn the engine over. i put the battery on the tender all day and load tested it with one of them hand held load testers the kind that the coils heat up in it. and it tested good. after that i tryed to start the bike and it fired right off. i put it back on the tender over night i will see what it does on the morning. i also checked to see if the bike was charging. on the DVM it was 12.6 before i started it and 13.8 when i had it running so i know the bike is charging. i guess i need to just use it more LOL. i am heading to biketoberfest here in a few weeks and dont wanna get stuck with it.

I would order online, it would be cheaper and they probably sell a lot more of them then a local shop, which would most likely get you a fresher battery then one that has been sitting on a shelf for who knows how long. Some quotes from other threads that should help.

When batteries start to die the engine will hard start as they lose their ability to handle the load on startup.
If you need a new battery go to the East Penn Deka website as they make all of the Moco batteries. Call them to find a local distributor and you will save $30 over the dealer cost. If the battery takes a good charge and runs down again then test your stator & vr for charging voltage.

Run wires directly to the battery (use Loc-Tite). To make a quick connect / disconnect you can solder wires to a banana jack and mount it some where out of sight. Use an additional banana jack on the Battery Tender leads. http://shop3.frys.com/product/237909...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG
