Default 07 FXDL Looking to Customise

Right so now that I'm a recently converted metrics to HD addict, I'm looking to customise my 2007 FXDL a bit.

Looking for recommendations on;

Short(ish) full exhaust
Air Intake system
Rear Shocks
Tires
Bit more chrome

Not looking to race, but am looking to feel the impact of the upgrades in day to day riding. I'm technical but not terrible mechanical, and have a good shop nearby. I live in Australia so heat is a bit of an issue for me, and this bike already seems to run a bit hot.

Suggestions Welcome.

Octavus,

For your intake:

http://www.fuelmotousa.com/

I can recommend Fuel Moto for your intake kit and fuel management system. They are a forum sponsor with massive positive feedback all over this forum. They will sell you a kit that has the back plate, filter and pcv retrofitted for your 07 and mapped to your pipes. Install and ride. No need for a dyno tune. I believe they offer lifetime map support for your pcv should you ever change your exhaust components. I would suggest getting the chrome back plate. I did and it looks great.

If you want a wider but ridable rear tire go with the SE 180 and matching front. Pricey but they track and look great. Much better than the stock rubber that was on my bike. There are other tire options but I think the consensus is that the SE 180 looks the best.

More chrome...consider getting some chrome spoked wheels.

my $.02

Cheers,

Tom

edit: fixed the link to fuel moto.

I think it is fair to say that I could be considered a borderline chrome-*****!

Just not sure where to put more on the LR.

Cheers,

Tom

Id keeep an eye open on here, you can find great deals like me. I got a screaming eagle heavy breather for $140 bucks shipped, an 09 vivid black tank with everything on it except the fuel injection internals for $120 bucks shipped, a powder coated set of risers for $50 shipped, if they ever get here! Lol There are plenty of good deals and a multitude of pics of custom modded bikes. Just don't go all black and ya got my full cooperation of spending your cash! Lol

Catalogues + HDForums = Success

You can get feedback here on any specific product / option you have an eye on. Somebody's got it or knows somebody who's got it. Since the Dynas run lean with the factory settings and you are concerned about heat, it would seem that a fuel management system is in order, particularly with changing the air intake and exhaust systems. You've already gotten one very popular recommendation for this component. Have fun with it! Dynas are a blank canvas for customizing...

BTW, photos are always appreciated by this crew.

Lowrider has lots of chrome already. I've seen people add more, some add a lot more, I think too much takes away from the looks. Maybe ride it for a while before deciding.

Good luck,
Mike

@ZeroFiveFour - Ordered the Fuel Moto SE Stage 1 air cleaner (ChromeBack)

@bqualls - Pictures coming shortly

Anyone have rear shock recommendations I'd to take 1/2" off the height?

In terms of rear shocks, if I change to an 11" version, from stock 12", is there any performance or balance impact?
