Step 1 - clean thoroughly. I use Adam's Tire and Rubber Cleaner, or if something stronger is needed, mineral spirits.
Link Link
Step 2 - dress with YumCars (stupid name, I know) Dress V2. Yes, it's expensive. Yes, it's worth it.

definitely last a long time
Chemical Guys Tire Kicker Sprayable Extra Glossy Tire Shine Spray, Dry-to-Touch Dressing - Restores Wet Look to Rubber, Vinyl, and Plastic, Safe for Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles, RVs, and More - 16 oz just punch in chemical guys tire kicker in Amazon, sometimes links get corrupted I guess.

Old fashion Armor All still works for me, but as stated tire must be clean first.

Wife's car gets Garage Therapy Tire Serum, or Detail Co. Guardian.
My truck, Guardian
Customer's - Guardian

Have not tried Yum Dress. Yet

Guardian is a very good product that you can use straight, 1:1, or 1:5. Very economical and looks fantastic.
My preference is to not have my tires look like a glazed donut.
Was there a Armour All comment???

I don`t really need shine but I would like them black not brownish /purple , which is what I get with most products
In the `70s we wiped them down with lacquer thinner, maybe I`ll try that

You will like the chemical guys stuff, that is exactly what you get a Matt sheen, doesn’t look wet and you can touch it after it dries no sticky residue.
I have tried everything out there best stuff I have found, like others have stated clean the tires with a rough brush I like soft scrub or mix a paste with comet, use a wire tire brush with whitewalls or raised letters

jack stands or jack to spin wheel, just don’t get under vehicle of course, a tire applicator is awesome don’t use regular towel you will get fabric threads sticking to it. I tried to get two coats. Once a year for the most part but I don’t drive in the rain.
